How to wear WHITE after LABOUR DAY

No white after Labour Day has always been a sort of cultural puzzle for me. This sartorial statement might mark the end of summer, but there is something undeniably cool and luxurious in wearing shades of white in fall.

You don’t have to pack away all your summer light fabrics yet. Embrace contrast layering and enhance it with earthy tones accessories. Silky slip dresses will go well with light cashmere sweaters and your favourite boots or sandals. Cooler pristine whites might be too harsh and cold for warm jewels and earthy tones. Go for classic black and white combinations, but avoid cliche by choosing unexpected and refreshing styling.

Keep your white & off-white jeans in and style them with your favourite knitwear, whether you prefer a neutral combination or warm contrast juxtapositioning tones. A styling trick that I love is keeping your summer raffia or bucket bag, too. The natural woven materials and warm leather tones make the knitwear stand out.

While transitioning into colder fall days, opt for knitwear statement dresses worn with knee-high boots or sneakers. When layering, think of balance and fluidity – your outerwear length should always match the hemline of your dress.

Regarding menswear, the choices seem slightly more limited, but the equation is the same. Take your summer white jeans into fall with a bomber jacket or classic suede jacket, or opt for a neutral checkered blazer. Pristine white jeans look particularly cool when worn with light shades of gray or camel. i

If you want to make a bold statement, dare to wear a head-to-toe white outfit, preferably a statement sharp or menswear-inspired suit.

Layering is key to a structurally constructed outfit while incorporating your summer whites. Throw a sleeveless vest over a crisp button-up, or layer a masculine blazer over your oversized white shirt or T-shirt for an effortless statement look.
